Default My Cavalcade of Caiques....

Hey Y'all...... I am finishing handfeeding 2 clutches of caiques right now. The first clutch is made up of 2 white bellies and the second has 3 blackheads. The white bellies are about 3 weeks older than the blackheads. I've been handfeeding these little balls of energy since early July and they are just starting to eat on their own. The 2 clutches are caged separately but I put them on a playstand every morning to socialize right after they are given their morning feeding. They are some of the most playful parrots I have ever known. They are constantly wrestling together in their cages - almost like how a litter of kittens will play. And they are great little fliers and have learned to navigate the airspace around their large playstand pretty darn well. I never owned any caiques prior to this year and I have to say, they are quick becoming my absolute favorite species. I highly recommend these guys to folks who want a loving but playful and energetic companion. Here are some photos of the 2 clutches hanging out on the playstand this morning. Cute lil buggers, aren't they?

They do look like they are very active.
Beautiful coloring and, just look at those cute little faces.

I never had any either. Totally cute and beautiful too. They appear to be really great at entertaining themselves. Every time I see them in the store they are very "busy" carrying out whatever missioin they're on at that moment....LOL.

Thanks for the pics and telling us about your guys (finally)

They look so cute. Everyone describes these birds as being so playful. I hope to see some in person one day.

You will Karen, if I can help it! I expect a visit from you to the Compound one of these days - even if I have to send ya a ticket myself (once I win the Lotto, that is - buying more tickets today).

Btw, I am up to 15 Caiques at present time (one is on loan so to speak) and we love everyone of them - all with their own unique personalities. Unfortunately most are too young to choose to produce babies although I do have one mature pair (two BHC that I recently introduced to each other that do go in the nestbox already - keeping fingers crossed there).

F L A S H !!!!!!!! Special deals to contributing PC members (in "good standing" here) : The line forms to the right for future babies (contact Moi by pm).

They look wonderful. Someday I'd love a couple of caiques (but no Joel, can't have any now), I've loved every one I've seen in person.
