Thumbs up My caique review....

Last nite, I had my first chance to interact with a Caique. He was at our Petsmart.
He was a phat kick in the head!!! Lil handful of fun, he was. Like a chunky hamster with Crayola feathers. So colorful. Rolled around in your hand. Something about those BIG eyes I think, that is an attractant. He was a white bellied. Beautiful animal. Flipped over on his back and cupped in a hand. Drew his legs up and laid there as if he was in the most perfect spot in the world. Made a hammock out of a hand. What fun!
The price wasn't fun, they wanted $1,100 for him. YIKES! That's a lot for such a lil thing.
But, as I said, he was fun. Looks like he'd be fun to hang out with and watch tv. Not hyper like Dood, not "edgy" like Cleo (I like that edge about her, reminds me of untamed nature).
Just wanted to share my "review" of a caique.
Got me thinking..... not $1,100 thinking, mind you.

Mark we have a few Caique owners and breeders on the board and they also say they are just little clowns with feathers!

I am totally HOOKED on caiques! I just love mine -- I have a black head and 2 white bellies and they all 3 get along just fine and play together like a pack of monkeys. My white bellies (Splash and Squeaky) do seem to be sweeter overall in their disposition than my black head (Cricket). But oh, are these guys a treat to have! Something unique to caiques (I don't think any other parrot does this) is their "body surfing" and among my caiques, Squeaky is the one to do this the most. He will body surf all over my hand whenever I pick him up. Caiques seem to love soft things to rub on and if I put a dry washcloth in their cage or on the bed, they all will rub and rub and rub themselves all over it. I really need to catch them doing this on video so you all can see what I mean.

Actually, I just found this video of a caique (white belly) doing a full body rub or "body surfing" on carpet. And it also shows how they like to hop -- seeing mine hop across my bed cracks me up! They are so happy and joyful when doing it. Here is the link to the vid on youtube I was talking about: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0XBB1sJNTE0
