Thanks for the quick response.
He does look normal when he's doing it (as normal as I can tell for only knowing him for a few days now - but we haven't noticed this before). He's not puffed up and he's still playing and eating and being active and chattering.
My husband told me that he got him to step one foot up on his finger for a short time today - I'm thinking that maybe he's nervous and anxious as I'll bet this is the most human contact and attention he's had in a long time, maybe ever.
We're not going to put our hands in his cage any more tonight, I don't want to push him (my husband is anxious to get him tamed but I think he forgot how slow Jerry's pace was way back when).
But you may be right in that it may be body language that we have to learn to read. Anything that's different from Jerry's behavior is raising red flags at the moment, and possibly prematurely.
