When I lived where it did not grow outside, I always kept an aloe plant in the house. They are pretty hardy, and the juice is good for all sorts of things! Hope Winston feels better soon.

I'll run my hands over his rope perches again, thanks lavender. I did that last night with all perches and boings and on one of the hanging boings I did find small bits of seed hulls and things like that "stuck" to it.

So far so good this morning. No more blood and he's still not favoring it. He's preening now and he and Jerry have been chatting all morning. I put the aloe on his rope perch when I woke up and he's sitting in that spot now.

I just saw your post.

Did you say the other day that his nails were getting long? I know that when Laker's nails got longer i had to release his feet from a few entanglements & then i just clipped the nails. I was worried he'd hurt himself when i was away.

If he caught his nail then he may have sprained the joint & might be screaming at Jerry to stay away. He might have cut the skin himself in his panic.

I'm sure he'll heal quickly. Sleepy ~ He as probably all worn out from the trauma + all the attention.

Laker & Rio will nap when it's light on - any time during the day. Recently they are wanting to go to bed earlier & earlier even tho i have the FS light on beside their cages. They can see the street lights turn on & the dark outside. Looks like in the winter months they will be sleeping longer than Laker did on his own last year. I think 2 Budgies get worn out more easily than 1 lone bird.

I've been away for 2 days and just saw your thread. When I read the title I said "Oh no, not Winston". Hopefully he will be fine . He has a good mommy taking care of him.

His nails are ok lately. I did some perch rearranging and now that he occasionally hops on his sandy perch (it's next to his food dish), his nails look better. If Dave was here last night I would have had him trim nails while I restrained him but it was just me and I didn't want to take the chance of working the clippers + holding him.

He is using his foot just fine, which makes me thinks it's not sprained, or at least not too badly. His toe/foot isn't swollen either.

He's hoppin' around and singing along with Jerry at the moment

I'm glad to hear that!

I had to change the rope ties i had on Laker's gym after saving him a few times - he was hanging from the threads! I used leather shoe laces instead. I also trimmed his nails because i was afraid he'd find somewhere else to get caught - he even got caught on my sweaters.

Poor Winston, I hope he is ok, I have only seen this thread cos we had no power for a day. Aloe is very good, I have a bulbenella plant that I use. Doxy is a broad spectrum antibiotic and can be used on the skin as well as in water.
