Last night my husband talked me into bringing Jerry into the bedroom to meet Winston....We did it, and I hope it wasn't too soon, but it went pretty well I'd say. It was definitely a time that I desperately wished I had a video camera because we were laughing our butts off at Jerry!
So we brought Jerry's cage into the bedroom. We allowed them to observe each other from opposite sides of the room. I wanted to leave it at that, but hubby convinced me to take it further. When Jerry first saw Winston, he literally froze for about 2-3 minutes - didn't say a word, didn't really move, nothing. Winston was eyeing Jerry but at the same time pretending that he wasn't LOL. Jerry kept meowing at him, but no other budgie talk. Then the first English words out of his mouth were,
"Hey budgie, I love you!"
After about 30 minutes of watching each other - and by this time Jerry was doing sommersaults as he does when he's super excited. Winston also showed curiosity. We opened Winston's cage and placed the playgym near Jerry's cage. He eventually went over to the playgym and soon enough jumped onto the side of Jerry's cage - this thrilled Jerry LOL.
So we decided to open Jerry's door. They both ran around the top of Jerry's cage (not a desirable place IMO, but Jerry could really care less, he was so excited). This is when Jerry turned on his full-blown comedy routine - he would go right up to Winston and [loudly] spew out nothing but English

It was everything from, "Jerry's a good kitty - hey, what're you doing? - oh you're a good boy!" to [I kid you not],
"Hey, I think I like this bird!"
He said this three times and Dave clearly heard it too. I think Winston didn't know what to think about this hyper, hyper budgie prancing around and talking English. Winston wasn't upset or angry with Jerry in his face. But the end he was clearly worn out and nearly falling asleep
[even though Jerry could have gone on all night - and this was after his playtime with Lulu and we made sure he flew around tons to burn off energy beforehand, but that apparently made no difference LOL.]
Jerry went back to the bird room to sleep and Winston went to bed, and there was no contact calling last night. This morning, however, we woke up to them loudly contact calling with each other. So right now Winston is spending his first day in the bird room (caged, he hasn't been out in the living room uncaged yet - hopefully today or tomorrow by himself first though) with Jerry and Lulu. Winston is now happily warbling and playing with his toys and Jerry and Lulu are making lots of racket -
I'm in a jungle for sure now!
