#1 | | | They are all gone now I re-homed all my Keets (15) to a very reputable Rescuer with reputable contacts, This person is a Memeber of our bird club The Minnesota Companion Bird Association.
Our home is now much quiter, as my babies chatter filled our home, I am deeply saddened now, the change has been nothing but major depression for me.
Every morning when the bird rooms timer woke my babies there chatter simply filled my world...(all rescues), some had been with me for 12 years.
Now there is silence.
I remember the first 2 that found me, they were abandoned at our Vets office, the owner threat'ned to set them free in the middle of winter, that was over 12 years ago.
8 came from a (worthless breeder).
I was never so happy than on the day we shut down and lock up this breeder that forced birds to live under horrible conditions, hundreds of them.
Silence & Saddness has fallen upon BrokenWing Avairies.

#3 | | | Re: They are all gone now Yes, thank you Arty, for being there for so many little ones. I support you in your decision to retire from rescue, there come certain crossroads in everyone's life, and we have to do what is best, or possible to do. My friend, please consider Gary's request, and continue to help us through your posts. You have so much knowledge and experience, and we need your help. You have been and continue to be an inspiration to so many of us. Thank you again, and please stay around and continue to contribute with your advice, ok? |

I'm sure the odd Budgie will find it's way to you - even for a short time - so don't be too sad as i'm sure you'll enjoy them again, if for shorter periods.
I know you wouldn't let them go without looking into their well fair. Can you visit?
I know about the noise level - well kind of - now it must be like you're in a vacuum! Our birds rarely are quiet.
Thank goodness for eating & napping. |

#9 | | | Re: They are all gone now I will be stopping in from time to time, We still have all our Exotics and my Pigeons.
Actually all my Keets are going to a nursing home in North Dakota, Renee is a very good friend of ours from our bird club, she knows some folks that are setting up a very large aviary in a nursing home, I have seen these before but understood they house Finches, I even seen one that housed Doves for the senior's to enjoy.
When I heard about this plan I volunteered my babies, they will get plenty of sunshine, here in the basement bird room there's very little natural light, and they will hopefully put smiles on some elderly folks faces.
I will continue to help birds in need by recommending someone else, But as far as I and Rescue are concerned, I simply can't efford it any longer.
Its not a question as if I have a choice, I don't have a choice in the matter.
I have always self supported my Rescue Facility, the means and money are simply not there to keep going.
Being a Roofer for 28 years paid me very well per hour, I knew the company I used to work for was hurting for work, but I did not expect to loose my job.
Take Care
