Yep, they're conspiring against you Either that or the heat probably has both you and them cranky

cranky seems to be common recently - valo's cranky, bella's cranky, BF'S CRANKY.... and all that makes me cranky

i can't wait to collect my bite when i get home since i've been busy all day (alright, involved a certain HP movie which requires me to do my work later at night)

It can be very frustrating getting 2 Budgies or even 1 Budgie in a cage - when they don't want to go.

Laker will go on his own but if he doesn't want to go to bed he'll fly away a lot or climb the cage as you put him in. The best results with him are to walk away & give him about 1o minutes - chances are he'll be in the cage when i return or he hop on my finger & go willingly. This is of course after he acknowledges that his night cage is all ready - food lined up & cover in sight.

Rio really is like a small child. He'd stay up all night & out of his cage too if possible. We've been dealing with nightly ups & downs for 2 months now. Some nights he is either already in his cage with Laker at his side [waiting for us to put him in his cage - i swear he's waiting] or the other extremes of flying for up to 15 minutes around the room before hopping on my finger & going to bed.

I think you all need time out. When they drive you nuts - walk away. You're in a loose-loose situation. The birds are feeling their independence - be it their familiarity with you & your person. I am being driven nuts by our baby some days so i sympathise.

I'd look into some controlling of the situation thru food & exercise. Take their food away when they're out of the cage. Offer it in an hour or 2. They will be very happy to see it & it won't hurt them at all. Wearing them out is also a good idea - a bit of flying around will make them more docile & it can be a fun time before bed.
