Default Rainbow Budgies!

Now this is a new one for me - I've never heard of such a Budgie before.

I'm stealing some photos from another site - to illustrate what they mean......

Cock

Hen

They appear to be a Yellow face with unusual markings on the wings. The hen looks like a dilute. Both birds are from different owners.

Rats! - Now i want one..

Wow, he looks splattered with paint - are you sure he hasn't been painting with Laker??

I actually saw a hen very similar to the cock you posted at our local bird mart last weekend. She was truly stunning and was speckled in various colors and appeared rainbow colored. She was amazing but i'm very fearful of buying birds from birdmarts due to the high disease risk so I unfortunately had to pass in bringing her home. She was incredibly stunning though and i've never seen another like her. I wish I had brought my camera though I don't believe I could have caught her true colors with it.

I got this from another forum. This is a Half Sider Grey and Light Green that was at the Grand National Budgie Show this year. Apparently the mutation is a fluke. 2 sperm fretilize one egg.

Oh boy! - now that would have been tempting - wouldn't a quarantine be worth it?

A Chimera! - i have heard of them in humans but have never seen one in other animals - it's own twin.

- i am so careful around other sites - i've make mistakes before talking about boards on other boards - against many rules - if they want to know my location i'll tell them ... but it is tricky. So how many Budgie people do we want? - they can kind of take over a board real fast.

We thought about getting her for awhile because she was simply just amazing but there were so many at this particular show that were questionable looking as in they not only looked depressed but were also in poor feather, had runny poop, etc and as much as I admired her beauty I saw her as "high risk" and my birds simply mean too much for me to chance it. If we didn't have any birds I definately would have brought her home, she was just so gorgeous, I really wish I could have gotten a pic of her!!!

Totally understand - pity she was with that lot.
