Putting them together has definitely caused Ziggy to open up more, even though he's in all new surroundings again. One thing that made me very nervous was Ziggy flying around in a new room. He's a little frightened from being in new surroundings, plus in a new room and his first couple of flying adventures were scary. I've considered maybe clipping his wings if he doesn't settle out in the flying department ... but I think he will given a few days. Also, if he happens to become more apprehensive of me getting close or having him step-up, etc I might clip his wings. With the big cage and a bigger room now, Ziggy might go towards the wild side unless he takes hints from Pogo about interacting with people. Time will tell.

Well i have to admit all those thoughts went thru my head as well. In the end i let Rio be. Being so young & his excitement being with Laker - i just can't compete - nor do i have the time/patience/interest in being the 'one' they both love. I also loved to see him fly & wanted to have this experiment where he's always been flighted & see if over time we can't be close.

Another added complication so common with other pets - Laker was a bit jealous & continues to be. Rio was also jealous of any of us spending time with Laker (love triangle of sorts) - we had to turn our backs, protecting Laker from aerial assaults, if we wanted him to stay on us. Neither bird just rests on us for long - they tend to be way busier together.

When Laker needs his time alone - that is a good time to use Rio's loneliness to work with him - bribe him really. He responds well to bribery.

I doubt if Pogo's feelings for you will change. I would suggest you work with Pogo & let Ziggie see you doing it - he'll want to participate as well. In Rio's case he was a bit frustrating until he turned 6 months - he always interfered with Laker coming to us by flying on top of him. Now he is less likely to do that, although he does want to be in the thick of things which can have the same effect.

I would worry if you clip him he may be hurt trying to follow Pogo, and not understand the sudden handicap.

Have you recovered yet from the volume increase?

Agreed on the wing clipping comment. I stayed home from work today and spend alot of time with Pogo and Ziggy being out or at least free to come out. Ziggy is getting use to everything quite fast, as it's only been day 2 since putting him in with Pogo. Ziggy is even starting to play with all the toys that Pogo plays with. Since Ziggy is still pretty young he most likely will pick up may traits that Pogo has. Ziggy has been stepping up and coming out of the cage, and even coming out by himself now. I'm sure in a week or two he will be really up to speed.

YES ... they can be a noisy pair now, but it's not too bad. There are times when they both really get going, but other times they both just sit and chatter softly ... Pogo going through his talking phrases and Ziggy just chattering ... but maybe he's working on trying to talk. Won't know until he hopefully does some day.

I'm all caught up now, watched the video and all - LOVED the video. I've always thought that with Pogo's energy and love of bells that he and Jerry would be a match made in heaven The picture of Pogo leaning in and so interested in Ziggy is great, I'm sure he's so excited about his new buddy.

Is Ziggy living in Pogo's cage now?

It's wonderful that they're getting along so well and so quickly. I love how the new flock members watch the older members and learn from them and copy them - Winston watched and learned so much from Jerry and Lulu and it was so much fun seeing him trying so hard to fit in with his flock members.

How are things going this week with Ziggy and Pogo?

When Pogo and Ziggy first met, it was Pogo that seemed to be the most excited. But the longer they are together, it seems the more Ziggy is showing more interest, and coming around and matching up in with Pogo's behaviors.

Yes, it would be interesting to watch if some of the Budgies here could meet and play with each other. Pogo is definately a hyped out engery Budgie, but he seems to be slowing down slightly from how he was when he was only 6 to 8 months old.

Yes ... Ziggy went into Pogo's huge cage the first day I brought him down in his cage and set it next to Pogo's cage. Once Ziggy came out and went in to Pogos' cage he never wanted to leave. Ziggy even slept in Pogo's cage the first night with no problems. They now sleep together on the same perch every night so far, and there seems to be a good harmony between them.

Now that they have been together for a few days, Ziggy has really come alive and shows a lot of interest in Pogo and also a lot of interest in what Pogo does. Ziggy has started to play with all of Pogo's toy, and this morning I heard Ziggy make a unique sound that Pogo makes ... so Ziggy is already starting to pick up some of Pogo's vocals.

It's only been 5 days since they have been in the same cage and they are getting alone really good. There is no fighting over food/water or space in the cage, and they both seem interested in each other and interact a lot with each other. Pogo still comes over to me and talks to me as he always has ... I doubt that will ever change. Ziggy is just starting to want to come out of the cage and spend some time, but still seems to want to be inside the cage for security. I'm sure that will change with time ... I can see it changing already, and it helps that Pogo is outside the cage most of the time when I’m around.
