Default Pogo & Ziggy

Hi Scott,
I was pleased to see your photos of Pogo & Ziggy in the contests & your recent replies to the threads. I was wondering how the 2 lads are these days. Life must be even sweeter for them now they have each other. Is Ziggy talking yet?

Have you thought of putting a thread in the All about Budgies subsection? It is to be linked with the regular threads - just more educational hopefully and a tad more formal. Your 2 Budgies can be posted together or in 2 separate threads or both.

Your bird training & new cage set up are very interesting for any new owner. Your photos are also first class. We could link it to this thread or another ~ for the comments part. Also don't forget to link to your other pertinent threads; like the cage set up that you reintroduced in Sarah's thread [good idea by the way].

Hi Jac,

Both Pogo and Ziggy are doing great. Ziggy is very tame now and he's so funny in his own way. He is amazingly smart like Pogo, and they seem to get along well. It's amazing how you can see the individual personalities of them both. Yes, Ziggy is talking some now, but not as much as Pogo. I'm sure he will pick more up as time goes on. It's funny how he has also picked up some of Pogo's antics, like the extreme head bobbing with the noise that sounds like a barking dog ... it's so hilarious to see them both doing it.

I haven't checked out the "All About Budgies" subsection much yet, but if I have some time I would like to write some things up about my Budgies.

Regarding Ziggy talking - do you think he's learning to talk from you or from Pogo? Just curious because I think that Winston learns from Jerry (although I can't be certain). And the funny thing is that I'll hear Jerry speaking a new word or two (new to Winston, not Jerry) in Winston's voice before I hear it from Winston. It's like Jerry repeats what Winston practices and ruins the big reveal

I believe they learn from each other as well as from us.

I'm very happy for you & Popo. I look forward to your new posts.

In my case, I have to say that Laker has learned a lot from Rio. Rio is so fearless. I've never seen such a feisty bird. Maybe I'll change his name to Feist.

Rio does everything Laker does but that's not too daring. If Laker was a talker I'd be in serious trouble. Rio is very loud & seems never to shut up.

I think Ziggy is learning from both me and Pogo. I'm sure Ziggy is listening intensely when Pogo sits there and runs through all his stuff. Ziggy also listens to me intensely and wants to ram his beak onto my lips when I'm talking to him. Lately, Pogo will come sit on my hand and talk with me for 5+ minutes at a time. He never use to do this until Ziggy came along.

So Laker has never talked ... even when he was the only Budgie around? Interesting, since all the males I've had but one have talked. The one who didn't had a female mate so he never bonded strong with me.

Laker is a tad jealous of Rio as well. I think it is part in parcel with his flying off whenever Rio comes over. He isn't a big talker generally but he loves to serenade me & now Rio. Rio is starting to come to me all on his own - been doing that for a few months now. He likes to be talked to - who knows, he might learn some human tunes.

Nope - he was older when I got him - who knows how old he is. From what i've heard - they don't all talk. He'd be talking for sure if it was a copying sort of thing only - I talk to him lots & he listens very politely. He closes his eyes or widens them in excitement sometimes. He also watches my mouth - he must be thinking about it. I do a good Budgie!
