Default Pogo - Wheel Spinner

This is one of Pogo's favorite toys ... it's a little wheel that spins around and has a little jingle ball inside of it. I have it mounted near the corner on top of his cage.

But what he loves to do the most with this toy is stand there like he is in the photo and grab the wheel's edge and rock it back and forth to make it squeak ... he's do this for minutes at a time. It's like he's playing me a tune. Some times he'll be up there playing the wheel and his eyes are shut like it's making him go to sleep ... it's funny to watch him lull himself.

I'll go up there while he's playing and grab the wheel and rock it back and forth to make it squeak really good ... Pogo just sits there and watches, then he grabs it and takes over. I wish I could read his mind to see what he's thinking about some times.

Pogo is sure a sweet faced boy - nice photo.

That very same toy was a problem for Laker last year. All things shiny drove him into a frenzy. Rio uses it like a door bell - we have had it by his cage door & he rings the bell to get my husband to hurry up. I rearranged his cage again & it was moved - may put it back later.

I'll have to look around for that toy - don't think I've seen it. Great picture, he sure does look proud!

Sarah - the way Scott has the toy placed is probably the best way.

At first i put it on the side of the cage & the wheel turned very easily & ..... well Laker was forever getting his toes/feet caught in it & it made me very nervous. Rio just gives it a foot pat - no trouble. But if any of your birds are clumsy like Laker - i'd worry.

I have that same toy and hang it on the side of the cage. I never thought about a foot getting caught in it. What I do with it is stuff part of a millet spray in it or Nutriberries and make them forage for their treat. None of my birds play with it but they work on getting the millet out of it.

Thanks ... yes, Pogo is so proud and brave, as he's not afraid of much at all. He's a big ham too at times and is so much fun! I hope Ziggy turns out as great.

Yes ... I think on top of the cage is a good way since he can't really get his foot caught in there ... and if he did he can get it out easily as he wouldn't be hanging from it by his body weight. Pogo has never had any safety problems with it mounted like this and it gives him a toy outside the cage to play with.
