The Budgies are being encouraged to enjoy some real sunshine & some real wind. It is also noisier outside & they can hear lots of birds
along with every city noise you can think of. They are protected by the trellising & the flowers.


Here are the boys outside. Rio is a very busy guy. They do a lot of preening as well. I'm happy cause the pin feathers on Rio can leave a lot
of dust in the apt. You can see the willow weaving on top of the cage + Jerry's gift to Laker - the long Boing & the grass
inside the cage they have to play with & perch on.


I couldn't resist a photo of Laker - he's so attentive.


Sorry about the quality - the light from outside is almost impossible to photo around.

This is Rio on top of one of the Mother-in-laws' tongues he enjoys eating
or swinging on or climbing up or hanging out pretending to be a marsh bird.


This is one of his favourite places. Unfortunately for me the bird poop falls on me when i lower the blind at the end of the day
- well at least it's cleaned regularly. Matthew said Rio discovered the back of the drape an hour later.
Sometimes i wonder were the birds are.

What is the grass perch your birds are sitting on? Is it just long grass that grows in the lawn or something special?

Just long grass clipped along the stream in my local park. I wrapped it with its own leaves. I pushed the thicker part thru the vertical & horizontal bars so it won't rotate & the seed end i clipped in place as that is the place i originally started to push it thru the cage.

This is their 3rd one. They both love it - not only is it chewy - it is very high up.
I'm thinking I should make a few for the whole year - easier than storing grass for their pleasure.

It does shrink a bit so make it tight. It sticks outside of the cage & they perch there too.

I absolutely love that closeup of Laker - he really is so handsome, and he looks so sweet in that pic. Rio still cracks me up in every picture - even in a still picture I can see what a busy-body he is I'm sure they enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air.

Well Laker & Rio worked their magic on the perch & i replaced it with a new one & made some more this morning.
