Default Our new babies!

My mother and I went to the pet store today as she had to pick up some dog food for her two dogs. I walked by the bird section as I hadn't been in the store for a long time and wanted to see what they had. I saw these two budgies there and just fell in love with them and had to bring them home with me! I'm not normally impulsive and usually take awhile to decide before adding a new member to the family but something about these two was just very special and I just had to have them. They are still babies and a bit scared but I know in time they will trust me. Right now they are actually at my mother's house as they are in quarantine but I am visiting them everyday to play with them and see how they are doing until they can come home here with us. The one that appears darker blue in the picture actually in person looks much more purple, almost a gorgeous violet color, not sure why it appears more blue in the pic. Please excuse the cage as it's just a temporary one, they will be moved into a much larger one tomorrow with tons of toys, a swing, a ladder and several other things. The darker one is going to be named Merlin and the lighter one is Skyler. I'm not sure what sex they are yet, if anyone has any guess I would love to hear it!!!

Thanks! i'm still sad that I wasn't able to get the dove the other day in the other pet shop but maybe that happened because I was supposed to get these two! I just adore them already and can't wait to go over and see them at my mom's in the morning. I'm lucky as my mom only lives two blocks away from us.

IMO: I think the Pied Opaline & maybe Cinnamon, is a female & the Blue/Violet is definately a boy.

They are both very handsome. I hope you have great luck with them & you enjoy their business & chatter.

I look forward to the photos & stories that will come.

The shyness should go away in a week or 2 - especially if everyone stops by the cage for a chat & treat offerings. You could cut the millet into smaller sections & offer it when you visit. I clip mine to the cage bars with a small bulldog clip.

Thanks so much for the information! I kind of thought that Merlin the darker one was a male but I wasn't sure about the other, time will tell of course They will be getting lots of attention and will be so spoiled. I will post some more pictures once I get them into their larger cage with all the toys and everything in it. Thanks again!

Congrats Deb!! They're both just precious. I believe it was meant to be that these two would share your home.

Thanks so much Karen I think so too! does anyone have an idea as to their age based upon the black lines on their foreheads? I know they are babies but wasn't sure approx. how old they would be. I'm just so excited to have them, I just want to snuggle with them and give them lots of kisses and tell them how loved they are already.

I agree, Merlin is definately a male, skyler, female.
Age...I would guess about four months otherwise we might not be able to tell that Merlin is a he.
