Default Off Limits! - what's that?

I'm mulling over the recent info Kimba gave us all in the Safely Flying indoors thread - about teaching your bird about off limits stuff.

Laker does need a lesson or 2. You'd think after the yellow & red feet, the green & blue feet & lastly the red spotted tail on, you guessed it, his white tail, he'd leave the paint pallet alone.

"Oh hi! - What's up? Got time for me? " ................. "Hey This isn't comfy!"

"So what can we do with this stuff? " ....... "Well if you insist on keeping it vertical i can't play with it properly."

Sometimes i trick them into their cage(s) & let them have living room or balcony time while i work.

I think you should find his some bird safe paint and let him go at it...
You could probably sell his artwork for a decent profit.

Laker just wants in on the fun! What cute photos. Our birds must wonder what we are doing at times.....bet he thought you were making something good to eat, right?

Haha that's funny. I paint to and Eve try also to "help" He once flew into my paint brush, luckly I use acrylic paint, but poor Eve was splattered white for a while. Sometimes those big wings get in the way, this week I found white stuff caked inside his wing, than I remember he flew into my beagle, guess he was saving the cream cheese for later...

AY! I dunno if I'll ever paint w/ Winkie out after he's fully flighted! I don't even do it now because I'm a little freaky about him & fumes. It's so true about the dangers of flight, but it's also true that they become more confident. I'm beginning to see a bit of a change in Winkie already.

Lovely pictures, by the way!

He's just trying to be even more colorful than he already is

It is funny how they love being a part of whatever we're doing. And he manages to still look so sweet even when he's thinking about being mischievous!

Whenever I am reading a book or a magazine, Monkey always flies over and lands on the book. It is very hard to turn the pages with a lovebird sitting on the book!

I have instructed everyone around here to try the Off Limits protocol from here on in. After all Laker learned the expression "Excuse Me!" & steps aside when he hears it - so why wouldn't they both learn about "Off Limits"?

Today Rio was on top of one of my husband's theological books & I used this expression as i shooed him away.

The paints are Acrylic - on a 'wet' pallet - yes they do have some fumes & are not innocent of toxic stuff. I want to discourage this from happening again but i had to capture the little devil one last time. You've all seen the photos of scruffy, bathed Laker, because of wet paint.

Susan! You're funny. - i had red paint all over the cage, my bed & the gym, the last time the little devil jumped into my pallet! I had to stay so calm as i asked him to step up & come with me to the bathroom - but it's happened so often that now he knows what's about to happen & he'll fly off just as we go to the door. I don't think non toxic or washable paints will really work - how can i concentrate with this going on!!!???
