It's gone well between them thus far, but it's been.....different...than what I expected. I wasn't really sure what to expect since I've never had 2 budgies, and it's been a huge learning experience for me watching and interpreting their behaviors.

It's been different in that it wasn't love at first sight - it was more....curiosity but hesitation at first sight, on both ends. And socially, Winston still has a long way to go - meaning outside of the beaking you see in pictures, he will not allow Jerry to preen him or anything like that.

And sometimes one wants to play and the other doesn't - which results in squawking and flying away - and they do have these little "fights" but nothing where I think it is out of hate. And I have never feared for anyone's life. They clearly like each other, I think the pics indicate that quite well, but they are still getting to know each other and feel each other out. And as of right now, Winston does not like being in confined spaces with Jerry, so as of right now, living together is not an option. If it is in the future, great, but if not, that is ok too. However they are most happy, I will be happy. But they do clearly enjoy flying together and hanging out together every day.

So I'm very happy how they are getting along overall, I do believe that bringing Winston in has enhanced both of their lives tremendously.

Looking at the two of them and remembering your stories about Winston, I'd bet you would now say that taking him in was one of the best decisions you have ever made. What a life you have given this little boy!

Kathie, you're so right - I agonized over whether or not to bring Winston home (seriously, I lost like 5 pounds during the week of contemplation, my stomach was in permanent knots!). My biggest fear was that they would hate each other - they don't so that's one HUUUUGE sigh of relief!!

But yes, Winston is a new bird already and he's still blossoming. He looks great (you can see some pins on the back of his head still, he's just finishing a molt from better diet and living situation I believe) and he's so HAPPY. He was a cheery little chap even upon bringing him home, but he's coming into his own now and that's so much fun to see.

He's still beginning to talk, his "I love you" is the cutest, it's actually more like a high pitched, "I WUUUUV you!"

Oh Camille, every time he puffs up like that it kills me, I just think it's the cutest!! The way that his crest AND beard puff up I don't know how anyone could not love that little baby face.

My two do the what it looks like as kissing and a lot of bobbing up and down. they do preen each other but it is tentative.... as there still is the little bit of mistrust I think.......

they are out of cage most all day and sit on top of partition... with the bobbing and screeching and chasing .lolol. I sometimes change the tone of my voice and that does calm them down...... when I think they are getting out of hand......

There's lots of bobbing and screeching and chasing here as well They're always chattering and on the go, such busy-body little budgies I really love to sit back and watch their energy - it amazes me considering how tiny they are!
