I'm not familiar with Abba - the mineral mix [not the musical group]

I will look around. I hope I can find it. Thanks for the photo & all the info & personal experiences everyone.

I stopped by the pet store tonight and looked at the Kaytee in the link above. The stuff for the smaller birds (ie, Budgies, Canaries, Etc) looked pretty big in size and sharped edged to me. Maybe it's like the ABBA stuff and breaks apart easily when they chomp on it. The jar has a seal on it so I couldn't feel it with my fingers to see how soft it was.

Does anyone use the Kaytee brand grit like in the link?

I think they know when they've had enough, and once "full" they back off on eating it and just eat enough to keep the gizzard at the right level of grit. I only offer Pogo & Ziggy grit once every 2 or 3 weeks and they go nuts for a couple of minutes and then stop eating it when they seem to have had enough.

The difference is that the Kaytee's is mostly made of granite while ABBA's is mostly made of shells (even egg-shells) with some sand in it. ABBA's also has more minerals than Kaytee's. As to texture, ABBA's is like flakes and Kaytee's is more like gravel... kind of like granules.
