Question If I may... i have been watching jojo and he doesnt seem to be disturbed by any of this. I was looking for the wing being moved etc.. just any tale signs of discomfort. all he has done is clean off the corn starch with help from tj.

he has been quiet for as long as he felt was needed.. now he has started moving around. been flapping etc I basically said that was it it was bedtime. as he was flapping to get where tj was and then going to sleep... its not been a good day.. thats for sure...

jojo hasnt bled since the mess this morning.. I even gave him a bath I was scared to in case everything opened but he was messier than the picture. so gave him a bath and tried to see if i could see anything nothing there but skin.. he is in the middle of a molt as well. so he is bare in that spot..

i went looking for the feather and have tried to find out how long they go into the wing with no luck.. but not able to see anything. its only hour difference from their normal bedtime. i can get up when needed... i just didnt want everything to open up again....

I just read your thread in the emergency section. Thanks for keeping us informed. When I saw the feather photo it looked like the whole follicle was there - out of the bird. Perhaps that is why it has stopped bleeding at this point & hasn't started again.

Tomorrow hopefully will be better. I think the advice you were given was excellent. Check for further infection. The Vet will be a good idea.

How did it happen? - any ideas?

Jac once again it was the partition. remember joey went over and actually broke his wing... and now jojo breaks off a feather.. i did check the feather and it looks like there was a break coulda been way deep though.. its now 6/43 in evening several hours after this happen ed this morning.. and still no blood .. just a whole lot when it happened..........

I guess you're just going to have to rethink the partition. It might be as simple as running a thick cord on top - something they can hold onto, but is flexible at the joint. You could nail it into the top.

I'm glad to hear there is no Bleeding at this point. Keep us updated.

I'm glad that the bleed has not started again - hopefully it was the whole follicle that came out.

It is 8/44 am here and jojo went through the whole night without bleeding and just flew across to the table they have been sitting on and its been about 20 minutes and were the feather came out has not started to bleed.. I am just wondering if all that blood yesterday was from jojo pulling out what was left of the quill.. his beak had blood on it.. or am I just wishing.????

anyway I will watch and hoopefully things will be ok.

I think it's very possible that Jojo pulled out the quill - Lulu has done that one time in the past. Hopefully he did, that would make life easier

I'm glad he's still doing well. Jerry acted the same way, like nothing ever happened, yet I was freaked out by all of the blood too.

So happy to hear JoJo is doing well! That was scary!
