Begging is an interesting idea. Like many I do set their cages up for the day with some new things to eat or play with. He really only does it in the mornings.
As I haven't been any further than 'seeing' the behaviour, I haven't responded. I do talk to him but he doesn't seem egger for closer contact.
Brain finally gets into right gear .... I have cut back on their millet [taking advantage of my husband's newish 'away to work' routine - if he had his way they'd be stuffed with millet!] & maybe Rio's noticed more than I thought.
Tomorrow morning I'll try offering a 'good food' treat & see if he's receptive. This might be an opportunity to get him to eat a new thing. They like the drama of some new 'thing' to chew or try around 4pm - why not 7 or 8am? I had been told to try in the mornings. Getting everyone off to work & school was interfering - so I guess it's up to me to adapt, as I don't want the millet back.
Thanks guys - lets see if this is the answer - I hope.
Thanks again.
