Default Busy Destructive Budgies

I really do clean the Budgie areas at least once a day, if not many times. But last evening my husband put the birds to bed on his own so I didn't see what Rio had been up to. This morning when I set up their cages by the window & their perch at the other end of the room - it broke! As I cleaned the area around the perches I came up with lots of wood chips.

Here is the culprit at work.

He has taken the wood away around the screws.

So when I went for my walk this morning I harvested some tree branches along with the grass I gather; willow - from a fallen branch - & some Mulberry - as shown on top of their cages. When they've finished playing with the leaves I'll work it into a new gym. [It got a good scrub & they don't spray around here]

Their cages this morning with the Mulberry branch & grasses & the old perch on the dresser.

I think the work destructive should be added to the Species names of all parrots.

Maybe his name should be changed to Busy Bee. He is quite the piece of work. Laker never destroys anything except the toys that are supposed to be chewed.

Rio has started a new way to wake me up as well.
No rest for the wicked, as they say. My husband gets up maybe 430am or at the latest 6pm. At 630 - Rio has had it! He throws himself around his cage until I fear for his wings. Today he started plucking the bars! I can hear the paint coming off & the metal makes a bong sound, then he sings like a mad man. Laker sits up in his cage quiet as a mouse - but then he can see that I'm buried under the covers & Rio cannot.
