Default Budgies and books

The budgies were loose all day in my daughters room unattended. They never do any damage, and the room does not hold any dangers for them. Today they had a book reading party or something. I never realized how a few tiny budgies could eat so much book.

It's awful - they can be like termites. - i am currently reading a pocketbook & Laker is relentless. I kind of drop the book to one side & he slides off - but if i'm inattentive he'll takes chunks out of the edges.

i don't know if you remember these photos from last year.....

Homebird, that first picture is adorable. It should be used on a Book Club poster. I think I'd have to frame it.
2horse, I sure hope they weren't library books they were eating.
I guess I'm lucky. My guys don't like to chew, at least not yet.

Budgies are book worms. Jerry will become a termite if I'm not paying attention.

We gave Laker paper to play with - i think this was the catalyst.

We put a piece of rice paper on a clip ... he loved it at first - he twisted it - licked it - tore it into long stips - made ringlets out of the strips .... then he had a hate on it for some reason & started to bang the toy along the rail like a jailed person with a cup.

He's normally not a big chewer - Rio is the imp. Laker also punches my husband's agenda or weekly appointments books.

The beginning

Not just the budgies. At least they are dainty about it, my IRN delights in ripping off the sheet of newspaper I am reading. Have to always be vigilant with pets!

I can't give Jerry paper to play with because he EATS the paper - he'll eat paper towels, and the other day I was cleaning cages and was tearing out phone book pages to line the cages with and he started eating those too. I watch him closely and he really does EAT the paper

Poor Jerry, our budgies changed the paper into a superfine sawdust sort of stuff. I was surprised since they usually only do corners and make punch marks like used train ticket stubs. The suns do shred paper but it is their job, expected of them.

Yes laker does eat some of it - i think he likes newsprint. He didn't eat the rice paper & that was put there so he could!
