I went over today and added acv to the water and got the little guy to eat some formula with a drop of acv mixed in. I added 3 big food dishes in the cage with the three cause we didnt have any extra ones. If I have to, I will bring over an extra cage of mine to separate him into. I gave some extra treats to nibble on like those yogurt dips they make for parakeets, but I doubt they'll touch them. Tomorow I'll go back to give more formula and ACV and bring some real yogurt.

If he doesnt start to look and act better soon, I will take him to the vet this week.

I asked one of the girls at the store to observe and she said he's been sleeping almost constantly.

Its a pain to go back and forth, but I need to do it. Do you think it would be to risky to bring him home to take care of him? I can keep him in my bedroom, but I'm afraid thats not the best quarantine because you need to walk past all the other birds to get there.

I know the consensus here seems to be bacterial, but is it possible that its something that could be airborne?

In one of the photos he was puffed up - is that because he was happy or is this common with this bird?
no, I believe that he just happend to be puffing up a bit when I took that shot.

Personally I wouldn't risk taking the guy home, just in case it is air born, but I am a bit paranoid after dealing with both a PBFD and Giardia out break in one store that I work in years ago. I know just how fast things can spread even in the best of situations while quarantining. But others may feel differently. I know many people will take home a sick bird to care for it and have no problems. The most I did was take home babies to hand feed, but they were already tested and vaccinated.

As others have already said, sounds like he's definitely sick with something. Probably an intestinal bacterial infection, which the diarrhea would also be a symptom of.

Hope he gets better soon, and should show some signs of getting better with some treatment.

Of course it would be best for him to have constant care until he gets better - maybe the girl you were talking to, will step forward to take him in until he's better. Sometimes it has to be someone else who does the helping & they will be blessed.

I would not recommend you bring him home - you have way too much to loose. I don't think I could stand it if any of your flock got sick. It is risky enough for you at this point.

I hope what you have & are doing for him pays off.

I would have to agree that bringing home at this point is too risky if you cant provide proper Q. The chance of Giardia is too great, also a bird in a weakened condition can pick up other things easier. Birds heal fairly quickly so if the ACV and yogurt has not made a difference in 3 days, the next step would be to look for something else.
