I dont have amazon but, is Zeba always looking at you when this twitch happens? My sun has a similar twitch with the wings and it is a form begging / excitement usually to be picked up but he has asked for something I have had in my hand. He uses head bobbing when asking for a food item.

The head thing maybe ear infection / mites , it does not look like the begging thing but I have any amazon experience.

scratch his ears and give him a good warm soaking bath.

he has an itch that he wants you to scratch.

My god it was like watching a Paco video- they could be long lost twins!

My two cents- Paco does the wing thing when he is in discomfort. Constantly twitching his wings, trying to get back into a comfortable position. Reminds me of the time something spooked Paco in the middle of the night, he fell off the highest perch in his cage and fell about 3 feet to hit the bottom. He twitched his wings for an hour and was faovring a foot. I gave him a dose of metacam and it helped...
I would ask the vet, but to me it says 'discomfort'.

well, the thing is, zeba was at the vet. they gave him a physical exam (no problems in the nose, ears, eyes, mouth. they also did a blood test and a culture. the culture showed elevated bacteria levels, indicating some kind of infection. zeba was given cipro 2x a day for 10 days (last dose was last week thursday). his follow up culture test was last friday and i get the results back on wednesday.

he didnt show this "tick" while being medicated, but just 3 days after getting off of cipro, thats what i saw.

2horse - yes, he does this only in front of me. my husband has never seen this twitch before. and he only does it when he is really relaxed and contented.

he has no other problems that i've observed. perches well, eats well, poop is well formed, moves around okay, great looking feathers...its just mind-boggling to me. im hoping he's okay and just being a weird hormonal bird. :-/

Kate - I have a 13 yr. old Yellow-Crown that also does this quite frequently. When I first got her (she was a rescue), I brought it to the attnetion of my vet. He seemed to think it was normal behavior, but I was not satisfied, soooooo lots of tests. All came back good. She still twitches.

interesting...zeba is the same age, but we think its a male (not sure). does she only do the twitch during the hormonal season or all year round? is it at only certain times of the day that she does this? thats exactly what im thinking...im not quite satisfied that this is normal behavior. maybe its a female thing?

She does it year round. No real rhyme or reason to it that I can figure.
