Talking Whistle fest with Chico!

Ever since Chico came home, he's been without doubt, much quieter than I expected. He chatters quietly to himself a lot, and once in a while gets into squawking spells, but that's it. I whistle and sing to him, but nada.

This afternoon I was sitting there watching TV and he started squawking, so I started whistling whenever he'd squawk. All of a sudden he whistled back! I have no idea if he suddenly learned how, or just finally remembered, or what. Well we got going, and had a good half hour whistle fest. He doesn't have a lot of variations yet, but I got him to try out a couple different whistles. Small, stupid thing I know, but it was great. You could tell he was really getting into it, and it was sort of like it was the first time that we'd really talked to each other, you know? Anyway, I just had to tell you guys!

How cool is that ... Cleo, our Sennie, is the one that is the master whistler in the house. She can imitate me to a tee and we often have great contests as to who can "out Aria" the other with trilling and warbling and general twisting of tongue into shapes that just ... well, they just ain't natural is what they are, lol.
I would love to record one of these some day.
Gracie (TAG) is next in line when it comes to whistling as she too joins in, but can't hold a candle to Cleo though.
Ruby and BB just look at us like we've lost some important parts ... and they ain't comin' back.

I don't think it's small and stupid at all, it's wonderful! It's these little things that so special and important.

Thanks, you guys! Its the first time I've really felt that we were really connecting one-on-one, you know? I think he's gonna have a great whistle, too. I may change my opinion on that after a few months.

That's great, Nate. It sounds to me as though Chico's accepted you as a flock member.
