She helped teach me to desensitize my Charley, who came to me with the nickname "The Vampire" after the trauma of having the roof fall in on his cage during Hurricane Charley. Charley hasn't bitten me in a year now and tonight, for the first time, I held him without a towel or a butterfly net over him. Baby steps.... |
I will check out that link tomorrow...Pruitt's paper's actually list his name as "mean green" and "hannibal"

Poor guy...He's living up to those names these days!
The first 2 weeks we had him, he was fine w/ Dh. He's gone downhill since then. If he is on a perch, and the perch is on Dh, he's okay. Once the perch is gone, all bets are off....
I'm confident that eventually, Pruitt will come to understand that Dh will NOT hurt him...it's just going to take a LOT of time...
Heck..we are still working on the wild caught CAG we "rescued"...living in a finch cage, one perch, black oil sunflower seed diet, left for dead in an abandonded house, w/ no food or water. She is just now realizing that one of us approaching her isn't the end of the world...
The good news is that Pru is a truly nice bird that just doesn't trust men...easier than a bird that doesn't trust *anyone* he'll come around

If he doesn't, that's okay too

I can adjust Pru's out of cage schedule if I have to.
He's a keeper (the bird, that is!)
