Although it seems that most of my 'zons are jealous to one degree or another, it truly isn't a problem. Like kids, each as his or her own personality. The personality dictates the interaction, to some degree.
Speaking of which, as you know I'm renting a room from a friend of mine while I'm selling/building. Jacki has a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Sadie, who has a play date who comes over every week for an evening. George came charging into my room a few minutes ago and I escorted him out. As I did, Rosita started calling, "B-U-S-T-E-RRRR!!!" Buster is a dog owned by Rosita's former owners. I guess she wasn't ready for George to leave and wanted him back. It was so cute. | Well, Stella is already pretty jealous whenever she sees me interacting with another of my flock. I've already gotten a few "pinches" from her while she is on my arm if I go to speak to another. She wants ALL of my attention and it is clear to me that Miss Stella firmly believes the WHOLE wide world revolves around her!!
As for Rosita calling for the dog from her prior owner -- isn't she just so smart? She obviously recognized George is a dog and the only reference she has for a dog is "Buster". Stella will tell me "want water" if I have her away from her water bowl for too long on a perch or playstand. Quite the "bird brains" aren't they?? |

Yeah, trying to handle any other of the flock members with one of the 'zons on any of my body parts is liable to result in a pretty bad pinch.
You know, the question of parrot intelligence is very interesting to me. Just the small amount we know makes it obvious that they're far more intelligent than given credit for. That's probably only the tip of the iceburg, though, with a lot more going on between their ears than our testing capabilities can quantify. |

But her jealousy is more deep than that -- deeper than my own hide I fear!! LOL She has "pinched" me a couple of times just because I merely talk to another while I am holding her!
As for their intelligence, I have to say that is what draws me most to having birds in my life. Their intelligence, sensitivity, and distinct personalities (no two are alike) utterly fascinate me. I've had cats, dogs, horses, and various other animals as pets (I grew up on a farm afterall! LOL) but none compare to the parrots in my life -- I relate to them on a whole different level. They joke, play, cuddle, love and, yes, communicate, in ways that continue to surprise me. It's never a boring day when I am with them! I've learned so much since bringing them into my life, but keep learning more every day.

One for you, one or two for me (unrelated male & female) and one for Kelly I think? Anyone else want one (?) = maybe a great package deal? |

Actually, your description makes them even more appealing to me, too. |
