This is the update I promised Tara to post and here's a pic of Miss Rosita. It was taken the night I brought her and Rico home, so it's over two years old.
Rico and Rosita are a pair of Tres Maria DYHs who were given (yep!) to me by a friend. They're probably around 14 years old and have been together all their lives. They were initially to have been breeders, but although they had a nest box they never did much. When the man and his wife divorced he stopped breeding birds and eventually rehomed his entire flock except for Rico and Rosita. He kept them for many years, then one day decided it was time. By that time he'd remarried and his wife was having her nails done by a nail tech who's a close friend of mine. The rest is history.
Here's one of Rico and Rosita sharing a treat. He's not quite so colorful as she is but is just as sweet and kind as he can be.
