I think I've mentioned a few times how much Ryan hates to go "night-night." And he has finally given up on running because he doesn't get very far, nor is he very fast. However! My green monster has learned how to play me once again.
For the past week, when it's time for night-night he immediately dives for my neck, curls up, puts his head down and pretends that he's sleeping. He has brought a whole new meaning for himself for night-night and it just kills me! I can't put him in his cage! I just can't do it.
And now I find myself going back to the couch with him and falling asleep myself. I have woken up at 2AM with him still under my neck and sitting there staring at me. But he immediately puts his head back down if he knows I'm awake.
I continue to create an even bigger monster. But I can't help it! He's so darn cute! I do end up putting him in his cage for the night, but it does take me while.
At any rate, it looks like I can now honestly say that Ryan and I have slept together.
Re: Looks like I've got a faker on my hands now too.
Thanks Kimba! My thoughts exactly. I figure if I was to roll over or something while on the couch, he would only end up on the floor. And used to that.
Re: Looks like I've got a faker on my hands now too.
It's not only the danger of you rolling over, it's also the fact that he is not getting the rest he needs for a healthy immune system nor is he getting the exposure to twilight for a healthy endocrine system. It's hard for bird guardians to forget that our companion parrots are, in essence, still wild animals that share all the needs of their counterparts in the wild. They are so cute, smart and human-like in so many reactions but one must make an effort. For their sake.

Lol, I don't even have it in my heart to criticize the lack of proper bird sleep. I know the kind of bird, Honey my sons sun conure can really melt a heart by sleeping on him, or hiding away so I cant pack in the cage.
Re: Looks like I've got a faker on my hands now too.
Thanks Angie! Believe me though, he gets plenty of sleep. He could be quite lazy. I just get such a kick out of how he learned how to pretend. I have to give in. He reminds me of my nephew pleading for just 10 more minutes! Why do they dread the awful night-night?!
Re: Looks like I've got a faker on my hands now too.
Birds are said to be permanent 2 year old in temperament and 5 year old in brains. It is uncanny how true this statement is. I love the way they hide the head and the entire bird is missing, or the way they plead like very young children.
