Default Looking Into Getting A Amazon!

Hi my name is Garen, and I am looking into getting a amazon, or another parrot. I was just wondering for those who own one do you think it might be right for me? I am looking for a bird that will love mostly me but won't be very mean to others, also I would love a good talking bird! I am a limit of 1500$ though. Also during the day for about 6 hours while I am at school with my sister and my parents are at work it will be alone, I also have 3 cats, 1 with claws. When I turn 19 I am moving out so it must be quiet enough for a apartment. Do you think there is the right type of amazon for me?

Hi Garen. You might want to check out the Orange Winged, Yellow Crowned and Lilac Crowned Amazons. They tend to be quieter and more apt to show the friendly tendencies you're looking for. Amazons are a good choice for someone who isn't home for a good part of the day, as they can happily entertain themselves with all the toys you'll provide them with.

As Karen pointed out, the cats are a very real consideration.

Alright we are getting the one with claws declawed in may. Alright I will defintly look into some amazons as a parrot, and won't let the bird and cats interact unless bird is safe in cage

I don't know about others, but here, our zons are loud quite a bit! Sophie is only loud at times. Ironically my OW is the loudest of them all! It really will depend on the bird and it's personality. But any bird can get loud.

We have 2 Zons here, and they both can be very loud.
The apartment issue kinda makes me hesitate, You could get complaints, but then as others have said, all birds can be loud, some just more than others.
The Love issue is earned, not given, You will need to spend valued time with any bird to earn there trust and love, Socializing your bird will also be up to you, Allow your new friend to adjust to you first, this will take time and patients, then introduce him/her to others.
Keeping any animal takes time and lots of understanding love, trully a life time commitment, I wish you well.
