Default Blue front compared to a yellownape

Can anyone compare and contrast a "typical" BFA and a Yellownape??
Thanks!
Mark

Don't mean to give you a "wise-guy" answer here, but there's no such thing as a "typical" bird - even the same species! Yes, they are both Amazons but each will have his own personality and some similarities.

My experience is limited to one yellow nape. If you have any questions specific to that species, I would be more than happy to answer them -- just understand my answers would limited to my experience with that one bird!!

Ok, well maybe "typical" wasn't the right word.
My apologies.
There are defining characteristics to some species and subspecies of animals. That, overall, is what I was referring to.

It may have been too broad of a question to have asked, and having had a yellow nape, I do know that part.
I will get to know the blue front part. haha
So, I will answer my own question in due time, I guess. My question was actually if anyone had owned both the yellow and blue.
Just doin my homework,
Mark

Mark: I think Casa Amazona could give you some excellent info on the blue fronts. I'm sure she'll be along soon to give you some answers!

Disclaimer: I'm just talking right out of my hat here, and have only a few days experience (and one bite) with any Amazon. From what I've read though, I'd think that other than physical appearance, most differences could be chocked up to individual personality and life experience of the bird. I stand fully ready to be corrected by Joanie on that!

Thanks guys for the vote of confidence.

My only experience with Napes is with a lovely lady with whom I've been in love for several years. Our local exotic bird shop is her home away from home. Not much I can offer there except to drool.

On the Blue Fronts -- ahhhh, they're simply, absolutely wonderful -- well, anyway, my Liza Loo is. I say that she's very nearly perfect. The truth is that she's as ornery as anything on two birdie feet can be. She's funny and smart. She's sweet (sometimes) and playful. Although she's not territorial, God help anyone who tries to fix or rearrange her toys. Apparently, she's the only one who's permitted to do that, as she gets really nippy. She's a bully and isn't to be trusted roaming free with any of my other fids. This past Christmas she almost lost her left eye when she attached my much larger DYH female, who decided to finish the battle.

The female BFs are reputed to be lots sweeter and easier to live with than the males. I have no experience with the males (except one at a pet shop I spent half an hour playing with ine fine day). If I were in the market for a 'zon, my first choice would be a female. They don't suffer from hormone poisoning in the same way the males do during breeding season, so are a more even tempered companion for the most part.

Have you chosen a 'zon? If so, is it a male or a female? YN or BF?

Well all of that sounds like the 6 year old Zon who has "chosen" me. .

Thanks, your bfa sounds wonderful. I cannot WAIT to go get Baby in July.
I've already started using her name in the house: "well, Baby will have to so and so.

What a sweetheart Baby is. I think you're in for a great relationship. One thing I notice in your post is that you've accepted the fact that Amazons have a bit of spice in their personalities. That understanding is absolutely vital to a good long-standing relationship. Sometimes when I see that Liza Loo isn't in her usual good mood, I'll set out to charm her happy. It usually doesn't take long before she's cooing and puffing for me. Congratulations!
