Default 3 new arrivals

The first guy is Jack a 6 yr old Blue Front who has some aggression issues, but I really feel hopeful for him to come around,
This is him.

The other two just got here from the SPCA the only information I have on them is they were seized in a cruelty case,They are much older bonded breeding pair,They are also Blue fronts.

Here they are.

Oh, I know that look in Jack's eye sooo well. Poor guy. He looks to be in good shape physically though, doesn't he? Aside from the plucking, the breeding pair looks pretty good too. Maybe a bit on the skinny side? I assume the plucking is hormonal/breeding related? Bless you Barb, for taking these guys under your wing!

thanks you for taking them in

Yes Nate most probably breeding related plucking, that is the style they do it in, all around the head and shoulders and nowhere else. Hens pluck a few belly feathers sometimes but not much.

Jack is settling in pretty well. and the two breeders are just to cute together,They remind me of a old married couple lol. They are eating already and playing with some toys.I promised the SPCA I would not seperate them,
OK this is a question for the breeders, since that is not my area, would these guys be happier and less plucking at each others heads if I gave them a box? I really don't want babies, but also want them to be happy.and just wondered if I gave them their own box and materials if they would be happy.

Not a breeder, but I took in a pair of "breeding" GW's a few years back. Dalila looked like heck. After a couple of years of her looking like crap, haivng a few breathing problems and all clear eggs I took the nest box down. What a difference it made with her.She is now as beautifully feathered as Samson and until her jealous beak comes after me I have a hard time telling them apart.I think with a good diet, lots of toys and time you will see an improvement.

I am very aware of the good diet etc.. as I have been doing this 17 yrs,My question is since they are breeders,if they would be happier with a box.

I'm sure they would. Do you want babies though?
I think just giving them the attention they have needed for so long would help in itself.
