I know that only a DNA will tell for sure but this way is fun. Secretly I think Merlin's a girl.

Lisa, how's the black ring around Stirlings eyeball, is it thick or thin? I've heard that the males have thicker black towards what would be the tear duct on us and females are more consistant all the way around.

I know, I've been cooped up too long...I think I'll go shovel now.

Butt wise he looks male. a wider stance, like your vet noticed, I would say female. Eye ring, I dont see any differences between Emma Sydney and Stirling.
Best thing is DNA if it matters. The reason it mattered to me was to rule out problems down the road. I KNOW sydney cant get eggbound, I would think the same for Stirling, and Emma, it would be a possiblility.

He's got a lot more red around his vent than Ollie does...I also think he's a boy. I only have a girl but she appears to have quite a few silver tips.

Will you be getting him/her DNA'd so we can know for sure?? I'm really curious now!

Next time we go to the vet for a wing trim I'll ask her to pull a feather unless he needs more blood work done. All the molted feathers come out clean.
So until I hear differently Merlin stays a boy.
It's not something I NEED to know.
