Default Timneh African Grey

Hi Everyone,

I may be fortunate enought to be getting a TAG. I'd like to know if Timneh African Greys are playful? And if they as playful as conures? I've done some research and they seem to be great parrots and wonderful pets. I have a cockatiel and plan on keeping them in separate cages.
Thanks

My TAG is playful but no where close to as playful as my conure. And when she is being playful is often by herself in her cage not with me. She'll hang upside down off her toys and act like a total loon.

My CAG plays in his cage like Tiffany's but will also play with us on his play gym. He likes to throw his toys at us to catch and then we try and throw them back in to his box and he tries to block them.

I've kept most every common species of parrot and IMO, if playfulness is what you are after - get a Caique.

Mine is a hooligan ... and much more on the go than the conures ... he is also cuddlier than my conures ..... but I dont think its dawned on him yet that he is actually a bird .....

He is a total handful , doesnt stay put wanders all over the place and very destructive.

But he is my baby and I love him to bits

My TAG is 24 and she is very docile - not due to her age, but because she is a grey. She loves her toys, but I would not consider her to be "bouncy" or "rolly"like a conure or, as Joel said, a caique.

OMG - yours must be related to my Jessie! I had new carpeting installed and she ate a 3" x 2" hole 2 days later!

Bella is as cuddly as a cockatoo when she wants it, plays just as good as a macaw or caique in her cage, boing, or playstand. She's got the grey smarts and grey gal'ttude down to the t. But they're all individuals but there is nothing in the world like hearing a grey tell you, "I love you!" Just becareful they'll learn things even if you think they're not listening....Bella said her first curse word yesterday....she dropped a lovely f'you...no more Sopranos for Bella! And she added to her phone call with 'hang up.'

Bella has to be one of the most roudyest greys I have ever met. She has noooooooooo clue she is a grey. I never had a grey on my hand who growled that play growl just because she wanted to play! I think they had her in with the caiques at the store. **LOL** I wish my guys were HALF as playful as her.

I think that is Phoenix's problem he doesnt know he is a grey .. his playmates were cockatoos, amazons and conures ....

He is the most vocal bird I have heard of and is fearless .. I have to watch him like a hawk he will quite happily waddl down the passage to the cat flap to say hullo to the ducks ... drives me dilly
