My breeder told me that bobbing your head in front of any grey means aggression and you should not do this. Is this true? I used to do this all the time with my Quaker while saying "pretty bird yes yes". The last time I saw my Grey, I gently bounced him up and down while saying "bouncy bouncy bouncy" and again, she said I should not do this because a bobbing head means aggression.
I disagree for the most part... I have many Greys and most bob their heads when they are happy, singing, etc..... Sometimes I start the bobbing and sometimes they do.
Thats what I thought. This is the reason I want to bring my TAG home so that I can be my self and act goofy. My breeder I guess wants me to just sit there and look at my bird and be boring.
The more I get to know her, the more I find errors in her advice.

Hey -don't feel bad. There is an avian vet (certified) in my area that reprimands you for cuddling with your bird. Says they are not meant to be cuddled and it is not healthy! (Needless to say, I don't go to him).

Oh, the different philosophies out there! I am going to continue to cuddle too!

I can't come up with anything remotely close to a reasoning for that philosophy! Me too. That's the best part is when they snuggle and bury their heads in your neck. That nice warm feeling - especially with the macaws!

I bob my head out of habit and my birds have fun with that! I can't think of a reason to stop......
I head bob for Bella too. And I love when they also put their head down on you. Bella's all for cuddles when she wants them....best to include a blanket to cover her with.
I have never heard that it means aggression. I dance and sing to my gang all day long. they love to bop along with me!
I also cuddle the ones who will let me.
I call it "mommy birdy huggin time"
