Default Question about dietary requirements

Hi, I might be getting a grey in the nearby future. One thing I'm wondering about is if they have any different diet requirements. I am aware of their predisposition toward low blood calcium, and would likely feed at least one almond a day to help with that (as I read about). What else should I know? I did vast research on greys, but that was back in 1993. I'm sure plenty has changed or they've figured out better information. Any insight given from those who have grey experience would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, that's for sure. However, I can tell you what I feed Ollie. At her last annual vet visit she had a full set of tests done and everything came back at the appropriate levels. She is on a pellet based diet- at least 80% pellets (Zupreem). She gets 1 Lafeber's avicake and 2 Lafeber's nutriberries every morning. She also gets a bit of whatever fruit I have on hand. She gets an average of 5 whole almonds daily. For dinner she usually gets a little of whatever I'm having, as long as it's okay for her. I keep a pasta/bean/veggie mix in the freezer at nearly all times, but I'm not sure why. I've never been able to get her to eat it. She gets hard boiled egg with the shell once or twice a month.

Things she'll eat occasionally, raw carrots, snap peas, kale, mustard greens, red peppers, broccoli, cooked sweet potato. I'm sure I'm forgetting things. She's very picky though.

Greys are prone to low calcium levels, but you should never supplement unless told to by your avian vet after running blood tests. Too much calcium is a bad thing.

Oh, of course not! She'll eat just about any fruit. Or at least she'll tear them up and fling them across the room. I was trying to list the veggies that she'll occasionally let touch her beak. Above all, probably even almonds, pomegranate is her absolute favorite. That girl would eat herself to death if I put her in a room full of poms!
