Default Pellets

Hi Everyone

I am trying to get Dozy to eat pellets. If I sit with her at the table and make-believe I am eating the pellets, she'll eat them but when I put them in her cage she looks at me as if to say "You've got to be kidding if you think I'm going to eat that!!!". I'd like to know the different ways in which you've switched your fids over to pellets and what is your fids favorite pellet.

Ruby eats Pretty Bird daily select. She seems to be eating less and less of them though. The vet said that was ok since she is a good eater and likes her fruits and veggies. Try soaking a few in hot water. Maybe she will like that better.

I tried mixing some pellets in with her Beak Appetit and she picked them out and threw them outside her bowl. They get mushy so I could try mixing them in her Beak Appetite. I would really like for her to eat some pellets during the day while I'm gone.

Pellets is not everything. Maybe try a mix of dried fruits, vegs etc.

I mixed the pellets in with her seed, 75% seed 25% pellet to start with. Then over a period of several weeks you decrease the seed and increase the pellet. If you've gotten her to eat them outside of the cage then we know she knows they're edible. She'll eat them eventually when there isn't enough seed to fill her up. I don't feed Ollie any seed at all now, except what is in her avicakes and nutriberries.
