Default Ollie Loves to eat poop!

I can’t keep him from stop messing with his poop! I clean his cage but I cant prevent him from going. I keep telling him to stop but he won’t listen!

He is talking more. He says good boy more often and laughs and kisses. He started dong the microwave beeping also. I taught him to whistle like something's falling its so funny!

After hearing he's learning lots of new words I'd be careful with the 'No' etc - you could come to regret that!

Maybe its a phase - didn't someone, in another post, think that it can be linked to a vitamin deficiency - or am I mistaken?. Have you checked that out? It is my understanding that a deficiency can come from an individual's make-up not the amount of food you're giving.

Does the cage have a grate for the poop to fall through?

It sounds like it must not- and I would definitely get one. Seems like I remember reading somewhere that eating poop signals some sort of health issue, but I can't remember for sure. Could be nothing at all.

The falling whistle is hilarious! Make sure you put a little 'splat' at the end!

I, too, have read that eating poop could mean a deficiency of some sort - might be something to look into. I would definitely get a grate if there isn't one.

Sorry I been away for so long. My cage does have a grate and most of the nasty stuff goes past the grate, but sometimes it will hit the grate like a towel over a rail and he goes right to it. On the playpen on top of the cage, he can go once and then he goes right to it.

It's such a pain having to stay on top of this. keeping him from getting at the yuckiness. When I'm at work I'm sure he goes on a poop eating spree.

ANIMALS THAT EAT their own feces (a disorder called coprophagia), soil (called pica) or other non-nutritive foreign items may lack minerals in their diet. Or, they may simply have developed a nasty habit.

I seem to recall it's choline that's lacking...but not positive. Harrison's has a real good mineral supplement.

Greys aren't the only ones, our Tiels seem to eat there droppings also, when ever I clean, when pulling the tray out to change the paper lining, they are all down on the grate picking at the poop that has not went through the grate.
As soon as the tray is placed back in, up they go.
It could very well be your bird is pecking at what he/she is seeing.
Example:, birds have keen eye site, My wife Rose Ann has a small beauty mark on her face, when our birds are with her, they pick at that mark, or when she may have a little piece of food on her face while eating, they head for it...
It may not be (poop is good....yum yum), but simply "hey that looks interesting".
And as I am reading above, it could be a vitamin deficiency.
Occasionally we offer our birds apple vinegar cider, this de-detoxifies.
