Yesterday I was at the vet with Lucky and a lady was there with her grey. Ya'll she let me hold him. I wanted to cry, but did not! There is nothing in this world like a grey and I think I am going to have to have another. What would Ruby think???? I sure don't want to hurt her feelings but I MISS GIPPER and I really would like to take another one in. I still have his cage and all. What to do? What to do??? Help please!

I'm sure Ruby would enjoy a new playmate! She knows you love her. It's just like kids, you don't love our first born any less once you have a second. Ruby may have moments of jealousy from time to time but as a Mom you'll recognize when she needs a little one on one attention. I'm sure she'll really enjoy having a partner in crime helping her plot ways to find trouble. My Doc and Mango love to play who can be louder than the TV when Mommy is trying to watch a movie!

I agree, with my new baby, Mischief's beak is a little out of joint but I make a little extra time and also give an extra treat now and again. I do not love Mischief any less or the baby any more. I was also apprehensive about another one, but it was the best thing I ever did. I am almost sorry I didn't get a grey first. Ruby is a good girl and she will cope.

Did you have Ruby when you had Miss Gipper? If so, how were they together? It sounds like you really have a connection to Greys...I say go for it!! Is it possible to take Ruby with you when you go to pick out a Grey? Maybe take her with you a few times if you're getting a baby and they can get to know each other as you and the baby are too. Good luck...I hope you get one.

If I could do it all over, to be honest Id have NONE. But I think 1 is way more than enough. Especially when we are at an age where they will out live us.

I know you are right, Leigh. I would get a "used" one! ha! I had never had a "new" one before, so I thought I would start off fresh with Ruby, but Gipper was most certainly "used" and we overcame all kinds of obstacles, so I know I could do it again.

Well....Jess I can feel your pain here. Because I am at a point right now where I want a grey so bad it hurts...lol. And I've never even had one. But I am trying to be responsible here and at least wait until we find out if Rob is going to be posted out of the country. There is going to be enough red tape to take the 2 we have with us...let alone a third. HOWEVER, I have warned him that if we are to stay...haha...I will be getting one within the year.

As for how Ruby would feel...everyone is right in saying that it's much like kids. Maple accepted Harley fairly quickly and fairly well. You must be careful to give Ruby lots of one on one attention and ALWAYS monitor them together. Never introduce until quarantine is over, and always when your vet office is open..JUST IN CASE!! My two are on a pretty even playing feild but of course Ruby is going to be a good bit larger then a grey so a little extra care there too. I think she will understand.
