I've already told these two several times that if they mistreat my babies in any way, I'm gonna be at them like a Mama Bear. I have been looking for a Nanny cam. I swear, its almost like I have a different bird in there. Today, she did come over to me and let me rub her head for just a few seconds and even let me put my hand inside the cage and touch her for a minute before she started trying to bite again. I told her gently to be nice and she stopped, so I removed my hand and she was still ok.

It means so much to me that y'all are here!

Try looking on Ebay for one, you can find everything on there. Then you can set it up so I can watch it when you aren't home and I can call you if anyone is misbehaving, unless of course it's that oh so sweet Frankie, I would never tattle on him

I'm glad we can be here for you to have a place to vent and get ideas. I wish I had more on Nonami, but Grey's are one bird I'm pretty clueless on. Believe it or not, they intimidate me I have a friend with 2 of them and it always cracks him up that I will only talk to them because I'm afraid of their beaks

How are your birds with the boys when they are around and how are they around the birds? If you can connect them to the birds it will be an asset in more ways than one. My son is a big help when we're away although the Budgies do make him work to get to bed -something they are happy to do normally.

My Step-son met our birds when he was about 22. He doesn't know how to respond to them and his buddies are the same. They do enjoy the birds hopping onto their shoulder & they find them fascinating. Here is the only time you will hear me say Budgies are great beginner birds. It is because they are so approachable.

I was thrilled to bird sit that Grey & she was amazingly gentle with everyone here. But my son was terrified of her. My husband never interacted with her but did talk to her so she'd be relaxed. As she was pretty goofy - by the end of the week both said they were more relaxed around her. Our place is very small and I had to limit my son's late nights and loud TV & loud friends. We had to let the bird have her quiet nights. He was concerned about alarming her when he came in late. It was all OK thankfully. So even irregular hours and loud talking could be alarming for your bird. Maybe she's been disciplining you because 'you' brought in all this change.

Regarding the boys - I went thru this when I married too. My step-son is a really nice guy & I kept telling myself that all the time even when their age can make them really annoying with attitude and self-absorption [with your own too by the way!]. I remember his Mom calling us to talk to his Dad about all the guff she was getting. My husband had to be supportive of her and tell his son to be a man and respect his Mom or he could live with us. Living with us wasn't as lucrative so he was more polite and considerate of his Mom. After all life was pretty sweet so he was a rebel without a clue. My own awkwardness with him and issues took many years to go away - he is very much a Momma's boy - but today we are pretty close and I do enjoy hearing all his adventures and seeing him get on with life.

Frankie may be the trouble maker. He probably told Nonami something to make her scared of me so he would get her share of the attention.....
You are wise to beware of those grey beaks. I have scabs all over my hands where she tore me up that first day. I'd rather take a bite from one of the macaws any day!!! The only one that's worse is an "I really mean it, go away" 'too bite.

All Greys!!! I have no problem visiting with them, just don't want to handle them I have an older couple that I go to their home to do their birds nails and wings, they have a Grey and a Sun Conure. The Sun is a known biter and I don't have any issues with him, I even let him sit on my shoulder. The Grey is supposedly sweet, but I won't get near her when she is out of her cage until she is wrapped in the towel. I know, I'm a wimp

Nonami is gonna be ok. I think i know why she's suddenly got this way. I was putting together a grill last night and the two demons were in the bird room. The youngest one was standing by Nonami's cage holding his hand over the cage over where she was cringing on her perch. I yelled at him to cut that out and when I did, the little &^%*^* started laughing. I'm pretty sure a hairy eyeball is when you tell the @#$%$% its not funny and if he doesn't stop laughing, your gonna tear his hand off and wipe the smile off his face with it. Their father though perhaps I was a bit too harsh, but I'm pretty sure that while I wouldn't have actually torn his hand from his arm, I would have decked him had he not made himself scarce. Am I wrong?

No you are not wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have done the same thing. I wish you were closer so I could loan you Butt, he backs up Mama's word and he wouldn't let that &^%*^* any where near the birds. Are the birds in a room where you can lock the door when you aren't with them?
