Re: Multiple Greys I've got 7 greys here, 6 CAG's and one TAG. The wild caught CAG and the TAG came from the same horrible home...I think the TAG would prefer to be left alone, but Schmedley the CAG watches over her and insists on being within 2 feet of her during out of cage time....
They all get along fine. Do we have disagreements? of course..but greys are generally not highly aggressive towards each other. I was concerned when flights started growing in about interaction, and contacted a expert in England.
He assured me that bloodshed between greys is not likely, and he was right.
We've had no serious aggression problems. They play together if they feel like it...if one gets annoyed, that one will fly to another playstand or tree.
Jodi has "paired up" with our latest addition, Gunner. When gunner comes out, he goes directly to Jodi's tree...they run around her tree and playtop.
One of our baby greys has bonded w/ our baby b&g - THAT was scary the first time I saw it! They are fine together, and Bella the CAG takes off if Ricky
wants to play too rough or preen too much, or just gets too jazzed.
My humble opinion... The greys are much happier with other greys to interact with. We've not lost the "pet" quality of any bird...if anything, the wilder ones that don't like to be handled have settled down after watching the tamer ones interact with us. (interestingly, the same thing happened with a totally wild quaker that used to dive bomb my face, and a conure that was terrified of people, just based on the other birds of their species interacting with us)
Of course, there is always a chance 2 birds will despise each other. But based on my experience...I think people tend to over-react when they hear "I'm thinking of getting my bird a friend"... Just my penny's worth.
