Default Is this Hormonal?

Despite what I read, I'm wondering if male African Greys can start to show signs of sexual maturity after just a year/year and a half?

Tuki turned one in April and is starting to do some interesting things. When he is in his cage and I'm giving him some scritches and attention, he now drops his wings down, tries to hold my finger with one foot and makes interesting noises. He starts huffing and puffing and makes a very soft moan.

He hasn't tried to feed me or regurgitate on me, but I'm guessing this behavior is motivated by hormones? Anyone?

Ollie does that when she's really excited (except the moan). I don't think it's necessarily hormones- could just be affection or excitement. I don't know much at all about hormonal greys though...hopefully somebody with some experience will chime in!

BTW, where have you been? How are things going with the new house, new job, etc... we need a good update on Tuki!

Thanks Camille!

I haven't had much opportunity to get online here lately. Things are good with the new situation in Florida...I'm homesick for the north though.
We have a really nice condo, the boys (Tuki & Bailey) seem to be happy here. I'm just not a Florida girl.

Well I hope you have more time on your hands soon! We can never have enough 'grey chat' on here! Ah Florida...I'd love to be laying on the beach right now!

Harrison (recently DNA sexed~female) has done this since day one. She's now 18 months old and I've had her since she was 3 months old. She does everything you say and also tries to regurgitate on me.
