Default Hollows in the neck?

I am asking for a friend who has a CAG. She went and gave him a bath - a good soaking bath with Feather Brite shampoo - and she noticed what looked like hollows, here is what she emailed me:

"What the shampoo does, is it soaks through all of his feathers, which helps to rid allergies from his own dander, blah, blah, blah. Well, since his litte butt was completelys soaked through and through, you can see ever crack and crevace on his body. After his bath I was holding him in a towel to help dry him off and keep warm (he was actually enjoying it...). Anyways, I started examining him... and OMG Lisa, his neck.... there's raised straight line where his spine is... and then there's two hollows, one on each side of his spine. I could've probably put my finget in the hollows."

She lives out where there is not a close avian vet around and she has been reading about PDD and other dieases. Does this sound like it could be caused by a disease or maybe a "birth" defect or do birds have hollows in their neck? Anyone have any insight????

Without seeing a visual of this; I am picturing his spine (along the back) and hollows along each side, so my first thought was; the bird is very thin.

If his crop is very empty it can look like hollows. What time of the day was this and is the keel bone prominent? Is this a very young bird?

He is a little over a year old and his shower was given to him this morning. I will ask her for more details though.

Ollie has them. More toward the base of the neck, where it meets the body. Almost like a thin fold of skin along the outside of the neck, and you can stick your fingers down into the little crevice that it makes with the neck muscles. It's really bizarre- never noticed it before! I would assume it's normal though, Ollie has got a clean bill of health.
