Default The hands free way to hold Harrison...

This is the thing my husband made for me to wear around my neck so I can still hold Harrison and have both hands free to do what I need to do. It still needs some adjusting...it fits him ok but it doesn't quite fit me yet. He forgot to account for my...uh...chest...as you can probably see from the photo...

Let me know what you guys think...

Heather

That could be marketable actually! But yes, I was thinking it needing adjusting for the melon stand myself! But the time to put the contraption on, and the bird riding on you anyway, makes think if the convenience of my shoulder. bad..bad shoulder rides!

I wish Harrison could ride on my shoulder...for whatever reason, she slips off. If I'm just sitting at the computer and she tries to sit on my shoulder, she bites my ears...if I put my hair down so she doesn't bite my ears, she gets tangled in my hair...For me, the shoulders are out of the question

It is a great idea, I like it. I have a swing hanging from the rearview mirror in my truck.

Leigh, you crack me up! HAH! I'm sitting here laughing!

Heather, I agree with Leigh, it could be marketable. What a great idea! We need pics with you wearing it and with Harrison. How cute!

I've always wondered if there was a way to do something like that in the car. I thought about putting something in the seat like one of my homemade perches. My husband has made a few. You know those TV trays you use on your lap? He's used those for the base and then a branch shaped like a T for her to perch on. I wonder if something like that can be sturdy enough for her to use in the car. Anyway, back to the neck thingy...she, so far, has put one foot on it but then took it off right away. She will stand on my finger near it but seems a little afraid of it. I think she'll come around though. I've been wearing it around the house...I look a little silly, I must admit. I'll take a picture (well, have hubby take a picture) of her when she gets used to it and is perching on it. I really hope this works.

What a neat idea! I am just getting around to making a playstand for jazz. Most of the time he is happy being on his cage but then there are the days i am constantly chasing after him! He rides pretty well on my shoulder but once in a while he will get wound up and go for my face.

We have 4 perches/stands. Only one was purchased. One is the one I explained above...with the TV tray. The other two were made from Christmas tree stands. My husband got two sizes. One small and one large. He put a wooden pole type thing in the small Xmas tree stand and then screwed a wood thingy to the top of the pole. Here's a picture of the top part.

Here's the top of another one where we used a Xmas tree stand..I couldn't find a pic of the whole thing, you can use your imagination. My husband used a really thick branch to put into the xmas tree stand and then tied the top part on.

We have the purchased stand on the living room...the TV tray one in one of the bedrooms where I spend a little bit of time...then the Christmas tree stand ones are here and there. They move around a lot. I can't wait for her to get used to the one around my neck!!!
