Talking Gracie's (weekly, lol) update!!

Well. . . . it's time for my weekly update on Gracie! Just got off the phone with her breeder. And she went down to 1 feeding on Monday. (night feeding) Oh my gosh she's so close to being able to come home! Wow I think these last couple of weeks are going to be the hardest on me. Any last minute things I should do to prepare for my baby's arrival??

Is her cage all set up yet? That's always fun, arranging and rearranging toys and perches! Buying a few more toys, stuff like that. Google for and re-read anything you can find about Greys. Start shopping for a vet. Hang in there Kris, it won't be long now!

Oh gosh the cage has been upset for months and months now! AND lately I've been rearranging the toys and perches almost every night. Think I finally have everything just how I want it.

I'm not sure what kind of seeds/pellets to buy for her. Anyone have suggestions on that? I mean I'm going to be giving her fresh fruits and veggies everyday. Do I give both at the same time? Do I mix the seeds and pellets in w/ the fruits and veggies? If I'm feeding fruits and veggies does she even need pellets and seeds?

I'm no expert...but I seem to have found a pretty good food routine with Tuki...remember...some of what you feed will depend on what Gracie likes to eat!

*I recommend NOT putting fresh food in with your pellets. The fresh will have to be removed in a couple of hours and you'll waste any uneaten (expensive) pellets!

Tuki always has a fresh cup of Zupreem Large Parrot Pellets (uncolored) available and fresh water.
Then, I slice up a banana in a separate cup for breakfast (sometimes some plain cheerios on top for fun).

Afternoon playtime Tuki gets some grapes and maybe some other fruit or raw carrots, dried bananas, a couple of nuts or a Nutriberry on his playgym.

Dinner is lightly warmed corn, carrots, green beans, broccoli.

But this is all subject to what is fresh and looks good at the market - or what I'm eating that day!

you need 3 dishes. water, dry food, fresh food. Buy the same pellets that the breeder uses and then change.

Wow how exciting! I'm so happy for you! Please keep updating so I know what I'll be in for. As I had hoped I was just behind you in baby comes home day. But I highly doubt it as he is still on 4 feedings a day! Argh. When was Gracie hatched? Congrats again!

Scarlett eats Zupreem pellets, not exactly sure what they are called but they are multi-colored. She has them available to her at all times. And then she has breakfast and dinner everyday (and lunch if we are home). Breakfast and dinner are all fresh food- mangos, apples, carrots, broccoli, pineapples, kale, peppers, bird bread, etc. And occasionally they will have a little of whatever we are eating. And yes you will need 3 bowls- water, dry, and fresh food.
