Default Gave Ollie a bath and hated it!

I put him in the bathtub and let the water trickle out to see if he would be interested and was not. He tried to fly out a few times but couldn't because he clipped. I took my hand and cuped a bout two coke caps full of water and let it drip on his back and he really hated that. After he was good and wet, I put him back in his cage.

He acts like it never happened and is still my best friend. I read storyies on how you can loose trust in your bird but it seems that Timnehs are harty birds with change.

He has learned a new sound; the sound your toung makes when you let it snap from the roof of you mouth to the lower jaw. Still no words yet but he's not shy making any sound around me. I got him to kiss me on command now.

That's funny, I tortured my Ollie with a bath about an hour ago. She detests the entire process- screaming, flapping...I have to pin both of her feet in my hand and just hold her under the stream until she's good and wet. As soon as she's out of the water she's kissing and chatting again. She doesn't hold grudges. I think as long as you have a good foundation of trust, it's going to take more than a trip to the vet or a hosing down to break it.

Clucking was one of the first noises Ollie made, that and kissing sounds. How old is your Ollie now? Ollie didn't say her first word until a week before her first birthday. Now she talks more than she makes noises.

Ollie will be 1 year on 1-25-08. The other night, when he was on my shoulder, he was laughing at me. The more he did it the more I laughed, It was a funny snowball effect.

I started saying "shake shake" like you did in the video every time he wags his tail. I think it would be neat if he can say that.

Right now, he has a habit of biting my lip. He doesn't clamp down hard but when he grabs hold and decides to pull it a mile away from my face, it starts to hurt LOL! He started doing this when I was teaching him to give me kisses. I know you have to be careful about contact with the mouth but they are dry kisses, no french kissing involved.... really

His eyes are starting to get lighter. Right now they are medium grey.

forgive any typo's my pda cell phone's tiny screen is hard to spot errors.

Well I thought I had the only one who does not like to take a bath. My Amazon does not like it at all. I've been putting him in the kitchen sink under the faucet and he climbs up my arm for dear life. Now I'm spraying him in the sink with a water bottle and he still hates it! I won't even attempt the shower yet.

I guess there are no suggestions on how to get your bird to enjoy a bath, right?

Actually, there are a few. The most important is to try every option to see if one strikes your bird's fancy. Some actually prefer the shower, or running around in the bathtub- so you may want to try it. Some birds like cold water, some cool, some warm. Try filling a bowl or pan with water and putting ice cubes or foot toys in the water. And of course, talk in really excited voices and give lots of praise!

Those are great ideas Camille. I figured since he hated the kitchen sink so much, the bath tub may scare the crap out of him. But I'm going to give it a shot. I want him to enjoy being clean!

My Amazon is a total mama's boy. So much so my friends are starting to call him names!

You can try a shower perch and see if he likes that. I know with my two they don't like to be put in the tub or sink, but will tolerate it on their shower stand.

Kita is actually loving her showers now. It took me way too long to figure out she wants COLD water when showering.

My two love the shower. Harley loves anything to do with water actually...shower, mister bottle etc. Maple ONLY likes the shower....no bottles please.....she detests mister bottles.

Maple prefers to shower while playing on the bottom of the tub..."surfing" if you will. Harley prefers to be on one of those suction cup perches....and he likes to drink the water a lot too.

At first we thought Maple was afraid of water too since she didn't like the mister, or the sink or anything....but figured out she only likes the shower. (Even prefers the corner shower at the in-laws over a regular bath...lol...picky bird!)

Thanks Karen. I will be stopping at a store after work for a shower perch. I have a feeling I'll be showering with him tomorrow morning, but I'll try anything at this point.
