I worry about her not eating as healthy as she should. What can I say I'm a mommy and mommies worry. When I first brought her home it seemed like she was eating veges much better than now and I don't know why that is. She absolutely LOVES sprouts so that is a good thing. Wish I could find a pellet she likes. What do you do if you can't get them to eat veges? How can I suppliment for veges?
Thanks again
Thanks again. |
Well you really need a plan with your vet. Greys especially get calcium deficient. Thats why we give Calciboost. But not in pellet eaters who get chemical suppliments in their pellets or they get overdosed.
If you can post EXACTLY what she eats (which her vet will need to know, too) we can help better.
I hesitate to tell someone not to give pellets if it's the only practical way even though I am not a pellet lover.
For eating fresh you simply REMOVE the other stuff. LOL yeah sounds mean.
Your problem is you have to work from 8-5. That's why I dont think a mostly fresh diet will work for you. I'd do Harrisons Hi Po IF that's recommended for her age ....if it were me, or discuss the other ones with your vet.
Then all the fresh can be pushed in a different way and it's not so life or death.
But for sure when you're home or off work just give the fresh.
Dont JUST give veggies. I dont know any bird that makes a meal of just vegs. Even when they love veggies after eating awhile they like to look for a seed or two, a pellet , a grain, a nut ....something that's not just, say the Broccoli alone. They like and NEED variety. Like us within one meal. SO give the vegs, dark greens, some grains and some fruit. Dont overdo the grains or she'll focus on just them. lol.
