#1 | | | Dozy's diet Hi Everyone!
I'm wondering if Dozy is not getting what I feel is enough veges/fruits but lots of sprouts is ok? She LOVES sprouts and I know how good they are for her. Should I be freaking out if she doesn't eat her veges/fruits now and then? I will combine several types of veges - carrots, zuchini, green pepper, hot pepper, snap peas, corn on the cob and differty types of fruits - apples, oranges, strawberries, grapes and put the veges in one bowl and the fruits in another. I'll lightly sprinkle these with sprouts. Can someone give me an idea How much fruit and veges should she be eating (i.e. 1/4 of a corn on the cob or 1/4 of a zuchini or half of an apple and orange, etc., etc.) I
Thank you. |

What are you feeding in addition to fresh, or are you going all fresh? | some times I do frozen. |

#6 | | | Re: Dozy's diet Yogi our congo usually gets I would say about a 1\2 a cup of mixed veggies which is corn, peas, carrots, etc. As far as fruit he gets a small wedge of an apple, a small piece of peach or pear, and gets about a 1\2 inch chunk of banana. He also gets other fruits and veggies, I rotate what kinds he gets often. He gets the veggies everyday but he only gets the fruit a couple of times a week. He's also eating higgins brand sunburst delight seed, and zupreem pellets. We also make him a soft food mixture similar to "crazy corn" mixtures and freeze it into ice cube trays as that seems to be the perfect size portion for everyone, remove cubes once frozen and put into airtight container in the freezer or freezer ziplock bags. He also eats lots of people food such as oatmeal, pasta, rice, animal cookies, cheerios and some other non sugary cereals and tons of other things. Some days Yogi eats more veggies then others, it depends on what he's had to eat during the day besides that, as long as you are offering a varied diet and Dozy is eating some of each thing i'm sure it will be fine |

I have an article specially for pet bird feeding based on a fresh diet, after work I will try to find and post. Have you tried a manna mash type cooked mix? IMO a fresh diet would be better for a bird but time consuming to make, and difficult to balance, the good part however is that is does not have the risks and problems associated with pellets. | I'd like to read the article. Thanks. What is a manna mash cooked mix?
Thanks |

You was quicker Karen
This mix is good, I have never made it but I have heard it ends up a very large quantity.
In the previous post I was trying to note that I add cal & phosphorus but I got a smiley instead. Calcium has very little use alone, there is a ratio with P to allow Cal to be absorbed.
Somewhere else I have a better article I am just not sure where at present.
Avi products mentioned are similar to any pellet or aviary rusk available in the USA
