Default Dozy making a weird sound

Hi Everyone. I can't seem to be able to download a video so I am going to try to attempt to explain what sound Dozy is making. She sounds almost like a duck. She does this in the mornings when she first comes out of her cage. She was really making this sound a lot this evening. So much so I thought there might be something wrong. Does anyone know what sound I am talking about? I also notice that when I bring my hand close and try to get her to step up she lowers her head and wants to be petted. She eventually steps up but wants only to be pet and cuddled. I am wondering if this sound has anything to do with me going back to work today after being home 11 days? It's weird sometimes she will take my finger in her mouth like she wants to be hand fed all the while bobbing her head up and down. Does anyone know what might be going on and is it anything I should be worried about? She just turned 7 months on December 30th.

Thanks everyone!

Dozy is just a sweet baby. I treasure the times Ollie lowers her head to be scritched (even when she does it to avoid stepping up when it's bed time, lol!). Ollie will also bob her head with my finger at certain times, when she is very excited and happy. She is 2.5. As for the noise, I can't say. Greys are excellent at mimicry. They will pick up noises they've only heard once, and even make up their own. Ollie makes all sorts of noises...seems like every day I'm hearing something new!

So it doesn't sound serious to you? I'm glad she's happy. I just can't imagine what in the world she is trying to mimic - lol

Thanks

I can't think of a noise like you're describing that would mean she was sick or anything. Parrots don't really cough (if you hear one coughing, it's because they're imitating). Sounds to me like she's just making noises for the fun of it. If you've reacted at all to the noise, that's why she's continuing to do it.

My sweet Gipper would make the craziest sounds! He could say or mimic anything. Maybe in a day or two he will perfect this sound and then you'll know.

She hasn't spoken a word yet just a lot of whistling and various noises and of late this duck quacking sound that is CONSTANT. Maybe she is, like you say, trying to perfect this sound. May she is getting ready to talk. That would be cool!

Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Lots of Tausi's noises when he was getting ready to start talking were sort of "quackey".
