Default Don't know what to do

Good morning everyone!

I am planning a trip with my family to visit my parents. The drive is about 20 hours from where we are in Texas to Florida. I have one or two friends that I would feel comfortable enough to come take care of my birds. However, it would be a lot to ask of them as they do not live nearby. I am thinking about taking them with us. Has anyone taken their birds on long trips? How have they done? Suggestions, recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Do I know you wordybirdy???? I am in Katy!!!! Let's meet and maybe we could watch oneanother's birds while we are on vacation. I didn't know anyone was in Houston. I don't have any bird friends, except the ones on parrotchatter.

The longest Ollie has been in the car in one day is about 9 hours. She always does great, she actually loves to ride in the car. As long as they're in a comfy travel cage with food, water, and toys to keep them occupied they should be fine. (Providing they don't get car sick).

Hi Camile,

That's good to know that Ollie has been in the car for that long and did great.

I think Dozy did get car sick. The last time I took her in the car I gave her some ginger and she didn't get sick.

Hi Everyone. I like the general consensus so far. I thought of something else - noise. My birds are pretty noisy when they are comfortable at home in their cages. I'm wondering what the noise level will be while in the car? I don't want to distract the drivers with lots of noise.

Ollie is typically pretty quiet in the car. Every bird will be different though.
