Default Digging Her Way To China

Hi All!

I know digging is natural behavior for Greys....but Cookie is about to drive me crazy.....she is at it all the time. She goes to each corner of her cage and digs away. Jack barely demonstrated this behavior at all when he was a baby. I am afraid it will become compulsive instead of natural behavior. Anyone have any experience with this?

They will dig all day! Its just what they do. maybe a new toy she can chew might help. I just made a bunch with tongue depressors and my grey loves it!

Jazz seems to do it when he wants out of his cage or carrier

Ollie does it when she wants out too. I just try to distract her by jiggling one of her toys, then when she heads to the toy and plays for a few seconds I let her out (don't want her to think that digging results in being let out). It's one of the things she does that really, really drives me nuts. I line the grate with newspaper also, and I think the noise that makes is even more annoying. Thankfully she only does this a few times a week!

Scarlett is definitley a digger! She throws a fit and digs when it is time to go in the cage, especially at night time. I just ignore it because if I go over there and try to calm her down I am afraid it will just encourage her to it more. But thankfully she doesn't do it that long.
