Hi all! My last post said I put a deposit down on a one week old grey. Well, my breeder called and said she had a "little girl" that was about to be adopted and the gentleman who was to adopt her changed his mind.....because she was a she.....he already had a female and wanted a male. So guess what? My wait for a new baby will be much shorter than I thought! She is just over 10 weeks old. I visited her today and I am in love! And she really liked me too! I had Cracker Jack with me and he was very curious and tolerant. He was sitting on my shoulder as I cuddled her and he didn't mind one bit. I kept turning around and talking to him though so he wouldn't be jelous. I don't know what she weighs, but she is BIG......seemed bigger than Jack. Jack is small though......not even 400 grams. Anyway.....it was oh so sad to leave her there. I am hoping to bring her home around the 4th of July. Now my big job is to continue talking to Jack about him being the "Big Brother", getting "her" cage set up, and finding a name for "her." I was thinking about a snack/candy/food name that would go with Cracker Jack. I was thinking about Twinkie until my daughter informed me that Twinkie is used in a derogatory way these days. I really like it though and I think I should name her that anyway.......I certainly don't think of it as anything ugly. Another thought is Laffy Taffy. Any suggestions?

you talk about names...... there are soooooo many if you cant name her before you bring her home....... once home she will do something I am sure and theres a name....... it will come to you.. good luck

Congrats!!! Having a grey is so much fun, and with girls, you can buy everything pink!

Oh yes! Pink cage, pink perch, pink, swing, pink toys, pink food.

I once heard (can't think where) of someone who was trying to get her grey accustomed to a new baby grey coming home. She set up a cage and got one of those grey & red men's socks and stuffed it with paper and put it inside the cage. That way when she brought home the new baby, her grey was already kind of used to seeing a grey in the cage! Worked for her anyways and thought I would see what you think of the idea.

As for a name, how about Popcorn -- Poppy for short? Afterall, the candy crackerjack is made of the stuff. Just a thought.

Congratulations!! I think Cracker Jack and Laffy Taffy sound so cute together! Of course I'd probably shorten it to Taffy when speaking to her, which is still adorable!
